BCLS wanted to be seen as a state-of-the-art retailer – and shed its image as a lackluster government organization. But their five-year-old Web site didn’t reflect their new sophistication and begged for an overhaul. BCLS approached Acro Media seeking to present themselves online as a friendly, non-institutional resource for drinks information and complementary lifestyle content including articles and recipes – a bold, new personality as conveyed in TASTE, their content-rich, wonderfully designed magazine. In the client’s own words, Acro Media was called upon to “… re-imagine TASTE magazine for the Web.”
Acro Media collaborated with BCLS to define the new site’s organization – the overriding aim was quick and easy access to a huge database of product and lifestyle information. The homepage design catches users’ attention with powerfully attractive imagery in a Flash slideshow, which then guides viewers to key site areas. Impressive features include a searchable product catalogue, a recipe and drinks finder and a store locater – all user-centric tools provided to research products, reveal local availability, and access drink and food recipes also published in TASTE. To keep the entire site fresh-looking and up-to-date, BCLS administration relies on an intuitive Content Management System (CMS) that accommodates all crucial data and content.
With a site redesign, BC Liquor Stores met three main objectives: firstly, they updated their online presence; secondly, they provided their customers with an online experience complementary to the enhanced in-store experience; and lastly, they gained the ability to easily and more efficiently manage their wealth of site content.
