> Welcome to the Acro Media Newsletter
We are pleased to present to you the first issue of Acro Media's quarterly newsletter. This publication is intended to keep you informed about our firm, our clients and partners, as well as the design industry in general.
The Acro Media newsletter has the following structure:
The Lead Story is a timely news article on Acro Media in press release format. Topics include: recent awards (Acro Media or its work), partnerships, or other corporate news.
An Editorial Feature (such as this one) will consist of an opinion piece by an Acro Media staff member, or other contributor (client, partner, etc.). It will deal with timely topics including, but not limited to: the Internet as part of a business strategy; the Internet and society; the future and/or past of the Internet; etc. We hope that the editorial features will educate or challenge your views on a particular topic.
Each issue will also contain small "infotainment" pieces, as well as recent projects and/or case studies.
Our next issue will be published in September, 2002.
We invite your submissions for articles, as well as your feedback, and wish you all the best for the summer.

> Product Focus - Discussion Board Software
Here are just a few possible applications that can be created by combining core functionality and selected modules for the Acro Media discussion board software:
Announcements: By removing all public access to the discussion board, administrators of a Web site can post announcements, news, and notices to specific sections of the site.
Guest book: This simple application of the discussion board gives visitors a forum to talk back to the Web site proprietor. Messages can automatically appear on the Web site or the Moderator Module can be added to allow the administrator to proof and edit each message before it becomes public.
Public discussion: The administrator of the site can use backend management utilities to set up one or more topics for visitors to the site to comment on. This provides an excellent method to grow the popular interest for the site and promote the creation of on-line communities. An Advanced Search Module for large discussion boards is available to allow visitors to quickly find recently posted messages as well as messages with relevant words and phrases.
Private discussion: With the Member Account Module, the administrator of the Web site can set up member accounts for private access to the discussion board. Members will be given a username and password to log into a private area of the Web site. The Account Module eliminates the need for moderation of the discussion board since each member is held accountable for each message and topic he/she posts.
File sharing: The File Upload Module allows members of a Web site to include a file with their messages. Set up a member account for media sources and share hi-res versions of corporate logos through a password protected section of the Web site.
Management
Administrators of a Web site receive full control of all core and add-on discussion board feature via AcroNet. The administrator can setup and chance specific features of the discussion board including which discussion topics are closed to new messages, which threads allow file uploads, and which users have access to the site. The backend management utilities also allow the manager to create, edit, and remove messages and topics.
